RPL for Credit Exemption for WDC’s executive MBA

RPL Eligibility:

Applications seeking credit exemption for WDC’s executive MBA must meet the following criteria:

  1. Possess at least 10 years of work experience in a major leadership position (for criteria see below).

  2. Be referred by a senior executive within their organization, a board member of their company, or another professional who is familiar with their role and responsibilities and can provide a detailed firsthand account.

RPL Requirements:

Applicants should be provided with a list of ILOs and key concepts/topics for the course(s) for which they are seeking exemption.


Applicants should submit an Experiential Learning Portfolio (ELP) that specifically addresses each ILO and concept/topic. The ELP should contain:


  1. Resume/CV: A comprehensive resume or curriculum vitae (CV) outlining the applicant’s work history, achievements, and leadership experience. Required.

  2. Letters of Recommendation (2-3): Letters of recommendation from supervisors, colleagues, or other professionals who can speak to the applicant’s skills, knowledge, and expertise in the foundational areas covered by the courses. Required.

  3. Professional Certifications: Evidence of relevant professional certifications or qualifications that demonstrate the applicant's proficiency in key foundational areas (ex. CFA, CPA, ACCA, MITx MicroMasters, CORe, edX, MBA Math, etc.). Optional.

  4. Work-Related Projects: Evidence of specific projects or initiatives led by or contributed to by the applicant that required a deep understanding of foundational business concepts. Required.

  5. Publications or Thought Leadership: When possible, applicants should include any publications, articles, or thought leadership pieces they have authored that showcase their expertise in foundational business areas. Optional.

  6. Training and Development Programs: Evidence of any formal training or development programs the applicant has given or completed, particularly those that cover foundational MBA or business concepts. Required.

  7. As Academic Transcripts and Degrees: Applicants should provide transcripts from all previous academic degrees. Required.

  8. Examinations or Assessments: Scores for any standardized examinations (GRE, GMAT, etc.) or other proficiency exams or assessments in the foundational subject areas to demonstrate their existing knowledge. Optional.

  9. Professional Achievements: Outline of specific professional achievements that demonstrate the application of foundational business principles in a practical setting. Required.

  10. Statement of Purpose or Personal Statement: The applicant should provide a well-articulated statement explaining why they believe they should be exempt from specific foundational courses, providing a narrative that ties together their professional experience and existing knowledge (approx. 500 words). Required.


Woolf may conduct interviews or meetings with applicants to further assess their qualifications and understanding of foundational business concepts.


In cases where the applicant may not be able to provide sufficient evidence, Credit by Examination may be considered to supplement the ELP.
